Evanston Audiology is a family-run practice with long roots in Evanston and Chicago's north side. Owner Dr. Kate T. Dunckley, PhD, CCC-A, earned her doctorate in audiology and hearing sciences at Northwestern University. Before buying the practice in 2022, she taught at Rush University as an assistant professor, and she still helps train audiology students from several Illinois universities. The team is honest that tinnitus often cannot be cured, but it can be managed so it bothers you less.
Treatment centers on two tools. Sound therapy uses soft, steady sound to make the ringing less noticeable. Hearing aids can help too, and the practice carries many brands, including Phonak, Oticon, Signia, Starkey, Widex, ReSound, and Unitron.
