Dr. Meg Kalady trained in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) directly with its founders, Drs. Pawel and Margaret Jastreboff, and holds certificates in both TRT and tinnitus management. She is board certified by the American Board of Audiology, has practiced for 37 years, and moved from the Philadelphia suburbs to open her Beaufort practice in 2016.
Tinnitus care here takes two visits. The first is a full workup, including a hearing test, speech in noise testing, and a tinnitus evaluation. The second covers your results, education and counseling, and a plan. TRT trains the brain to tune out the ringing the way it tunes out a fan or refrigerator. Sound therapy uses soothing background sounds to soften the contrast between silence and tinnitus, and many hearing aids now include tinnitus programs. I was not able to find anyone in the Charleston area that was familiar with Tinnitus. I made some phone calls out of the state and found an audiologist in Beaufort, SC that was able to test me and discuss my tinnitus. I highly recommend Meg Kalady at Kalady Audiology in Beaufort, SC.
